Day 1 – Coralville, IA – We board our deluxe coach and travel through Indiana and Illinois to Coralville for our first night.
Day 2 – John Wayne Birthplace Museum – Chamberlain, SD – After an included breakfast, we tour John Wayne’s Birthplace Museum. The museum houses the world’s largest collection of John Wayne memorabilia. We overnight in Chamberlain.
Day 3 – Badlands National Park – Wall Drug Store – Mt. Rushmore National Memorial – Spearfish, South Dakota – After an included breakfast, we take a driving tour through the beautiful multi-colored wastelands of Badlands National Park. Afterwards, we visit the famous Wall Drug Store – reported to be the world’s largest drug store – for time to shop and eat. Next, we visit Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The 6,000-foot mountain displays the faces of four presidents whose accomplishments best exhibit the zeal and spirit of Americans. Overnight in Spearfish.
Day 4 – Black Hills – Big Horn Mountains – Cody Nite Rodeo – Today, we continue our travels with a ride through the Black Hills where thick coverings of pine trees on the hillsides give the hills a black appearance. We cross the high elevations of the Big Horn Mountains, and then pass through Shell Canyon, a scenic gorge on our way to our overnight accommodations in Cody. This evening, we attend the Cody Nite Rodeo, where cowboys and cowgirls show off their skills in an action-packed western experience.
Day 5 – Yellowstone National Park – Jackson, WY – After an included breakfast, spectacular Yellowstone National Park awaits us. There will be many opportunities for taking pictures as we walk the paths to thundering waterfalls, thermal steam vents, bubbling mud pots, and steaming pools. Old Faithful Geyser flings its steamy plume against the blue sky on a consistent schedule. Next, we travel to Jackson Hole, a resort town surrounded by the Grand Teton Mountains and the Snake River. We overnight two nights in Jackson.
Day 6 – Leisure Day in Jackson – Today is at your leisure in Jackson Hole. There are many shops that offer unique gifts, and several famous restaurants that offer “local” cuisine. You can choose to take an aerial tram of chair lift to the top of one of the local ski slopes for amazing views of Jackson Hole and the Teton Range! Overnight same hotel.
Day 7 – Idaho – Missoula, MT – Today, is a travel day, heading though Idaho’s fields of potatoes growing in rich, volcanic soil to our overnight in Missoula, MT.
Day 8 – Glacier National Park – Going-to-the-Sun Road – Lethbridge, AB – After an included breakfast, we visit one of the most beautiful spots in the world – Glacier National Park! We’ll make a stop at McDonald Lodge where we board our red “jammer” vehicles for a ride over Glacier’s spectacular Going-To-The-Sun-Road, winding through the heart of the park, up and over the Continental Divide. Later, we cross the border into Alberta, Canada to overnight in Lethbridge.
Day 9 – Banff National Park – Lake Louise, AB – Today we head to the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, traveling through Calgary and on to Banff National Park. There will be time for lunch and shopping in the quaint town of Banff. This afternoon, we stop at beautiful Lake Louise, one of the most photographed points in Canada. We will drive a portion of the Icefields Parkway, a scenic highway amidst the fantastic beauty of soaring mountains and icy glacial formations. Overnight Lake Louise.
Day 10 – Columbia Icefield – Athabasca Glacier Tour – Medicine Hat, AB – This morning we continue to the heart of the Canadian Rockies – a glorious panorama of endless mountain peaks, creeping glaciers, shimmering lakes, tumbling rivers and plunging waterfalls. We’ll climb aboard a snowcoach for a ride across the surface of the 1,000-foot Athabasca Glacier, part of the Columbia Icefield, the largest accumulation of ice in the Rockies. We’ll also get to walk on the glacier – another unique and thrillingexperience! Next, we retrace our journey on the Icefield Parkway, again seeing the awesome beauty of the Canadian Rockies. We overnight in Medicine Hat.
Day 11 – RCMP Heritage Centre – Regina, SK – After an included breakfast, we make our way to the pastoral beauty of Saskatchewan, Canada’s prairie province. We’ll discover the history of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the RCMP Heritage Centre, where interactive exhibits and stories of courage await. Then, we head to Regina, the capital city of the province, where we’ll marvel at the Regina Legislative Building, a stunning architectural gem. Overnight in Regina.
Day 12 – Fargo, ND – After an included breakfast, we depart Canada and cross the border back into the US. We make our way through the rugged state of North Dakota, passing through Rugby, the geographic center of North America. We overnight in Fargo.
Day 13 – Wisconsin Dells, WI – After an included breakfast, we continue to Wisconsin Dells, where we overnight two nights. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 14 – Mid-Continent Railway Museum – Upper Dells Boat Ride – Sneaky Pete’s Wild West Dinner Show – After an included breakfast, we visit the Mid-Continent Railway Museum. We’ll take a train ride aboard century-old restored coache, then explore the museum exhibits and historic railcars. After lunch on our own, we set sail on the Upper Dells Boat Ride, a breathtaking cruise through towering sandstone cliffs and rock formations along the Wisconsin River. Tonight, we attend Sneaky Pete’s Wild West Dinner Show. Enjoy a delicious four-course feast, followed by an entertaining western variety show. Overnight same hotel.
Day 15 – Home – After an included breakfast, our trip comes to an end today as return home with memories of our wonderful trip through some of the most beautiful places in the US and Canada. Meals: 9B, 2D
