Tulip Time Festival
Do you like parades, folk dancing, and learning the culture of other lands? Then come with us to Holland, Michigan, where residents celebrate their Dutch heritage with the Tulip Time Festival in May. The klomp-klomp of wooden shoes can be heard throughout Holland as hundreds of residents dressed in traditional Dutch costume take to the streets to perform the native dances of the Netherlands.
Day 1 – Holland, Michigan – Our first day’s journey takes us through Indiana and into Michigan to our hotel for three nights in Holland. Tonight, we enjoy an included dinner and the first of our three shows.
Day 2 – Windmill Island – Veldheer’s Tulip Gardens – Delft Pottery & Wooden Shoe Factory – Today, we visit famous Windmill Island where we see a 1761 operating windmill – America’s only authentic Dutch windmill. Next, we stop at the Delft Pottery Factory to watch craftsmen decorate their wares, and to see the wooden shoes being constructed out of one solid piece of wood. A stop at Veldheer’s Tulip Gardens to see the more than two and a half million tulips in bloom will delight you with its colorful display. Dinner is included tonight before enjoying another entertaining show.
Day 3 – Tulip Time Parade – Today, we drive down Tulip Lanes, streets of beautifully manicured lawns with neat houses, and rows of tulips in a variety of colors. Next, we’re off to see the Klompen Dancers, the Street Scrubbing, and the famous Tulip Time Parade. This evening we have included dinner and another great show for your enjoyment. Overnight same hotel.
