DAY 1 – Birmingham, AL – Our journey begins as we head south through Tennessee and Alabama to our overnight accommodations in Birmingham.
DAY 2 – Guided Tour of New Orleans – After an included breakfast, we drive directly to the “Crescent City” and meet our local guide for a city tour that will feature modern New Orleans and old sights around the French Quarter. Our city tour will take us by lovely antebellum homes and along St. Charles Avenue, past parks, universities, and other famous areas in this beautiful city. This evening will be at leisure to have dinner on your own and explore this fascinating city. Hotel accommodations for two nights will be in New Orleans.
DAY 3 – National World War II Museum – French Quarter – Jazz Dinner Cruise – After an included breakfast, we visit the National World War II Museum. This museum tells the story of World War II soldiers through a vast collection of artifacts, film footage, photographs, diaries, personal effects, and first-person histories. This afternoon is a at leisure for lunch on own and shopping. Stroll through the French Quarter looking for that perfect bargain, walk down Bourbon Street, admire iron-lace balconies, stop for café au lait and beignets at the Café du Monde or enjoy the music and entertainers at Jackson Square. Tonight, we have included a delightful jazz dinner cruise down the Mississippi River. Enjoy a lavish Creole buffet while listening to the lively sounds of traditional New Orleans music. Overnight same hotel.
DAY 4 – Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World – The Court of Two Sisters – This morning, we head to Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World. The artists here create the magical images and figures used on the Mardi Gras parade floats and we’ll see many of the props and giant sculptures on display here. Lunch is included at The Court of Two Sisters, one of New Orleans’ most famous culinary stops. Afterwards, we make our way to our overnight accommodations in Birmingham, Alabama.
DAY 5 – Home – This morning, we make our way home remembering what fun and excitement we have had on our New Orleans getaway.
