As we forge ahead in challenging times, it’s clear that there is much uncertainty around what our “new normal” will look like.
To get a better idea of our passengers’ sentiments around traveling, we recently sent out a customer survey that received over 260 responses. Thank you to all those who participated. The following are our findings.
Overall the majority of respondents said they would feel comfortable traveling soon – with 55% saying they’d feel comfortable doing so in the next year.
Regarding type of travel, 58% of respondents said they would be interested in regional travel destinations. Additionally:
- 46% said they would be interested in day trips
- 43% said they would be interested in weekend trips
- 50% said they would be interested in visiting destinations within a drivable distance
Only 19% of respondents said they would be interested in air travel and only 6% said they would be interested in international travel destinations (note that respondents were asked to choose all that apply).
Lastly, 82% of respondents said if they were to travel it would likely be for fun or a vacation rather than for business.
This data tells us several things. It tells us that while there are certainly still mixed feelings around traveling, most of our passengers are optimistic that they will feel comfortable taking a short weekend vacation or day trip in the next year. We also know that air travel and international destinations may be off the radar for folks for some time.
That’s good news for Louisville. According to Louisville Tourism Director of Marketing Michael Fetter Louisville is within “a day’s drive from 60% of the population” which also means major landmarks and attractions as well.
