Join us on a memorable journey to Washington, D.C., as we explore the heart of our nation’s history and heritage. Whether you’re exploring the rich collections of the Smithsonian, standing in silent reflection at revered memorials, or walking the halls of power on Capitol Hill, every moment is a step into the story of the United States.
Day 1 – Hagerstown, MD – Our adventure begins as we travel through West Virginia and Maryland to our overnight accommodations in Hagerstown.
Day 2 – Smithsonian Museums – Washington, D.C. – After an included breakfast, we drive directly to Washington, D.C. We’ll explore the world-renowned Smithsonian Museums, starting with the awe-inspiring National Air and Space Museum, home to legendary aircraft, space capsules, and the story of flight. Next, we dive into America’s fascinating past at the National Museum of American History where treasures like the Star-Spangled Banner and presidential artifacts await. Our final stop is the breathtaking National Museum of Natural History. Marvel at the Hope Diamond, walk among towering dinosaur skeletons, and see artifacts from ancient civilizations. We overnight three nights in the Washington, D.C. area.
Day 3 – Arlington National Cemetery – City Tour – National Memorials – After an included breakfast, we take a narrated tram tour of Arlington National Cemetery. Pay tribute to America’s heroes as we visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other historic landmarks within these hallowed grounds. As we depart the cemetery, we’ll pause for a photo stop at the Marine Corps War Memorial portraying the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima – a stirring symbol of courage and sacrifice. Afterward, we’ll meet our knowledgeable local step-on guide for a comprehensive city tour of Washington, D.C., highlighting the stories and significance behind some of the country’s most powerful landmarks. We’ll visit the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the iconic Lincoln, Jefferson, and FDR Memorials. Overnight same hotel.
Day 4 – Museum of the Bible – U.S. Capitol Tour – Ford’s Theatre – After an included breakfast we visit the Museum of the Bible. Explore rare biblical artifacts, interactive exhibits, and dramatic visual presentations that bring the Bible’s history, impact, and stories to life. This afternoon, we will tour the U.S. Capitol (if open and available). Learn about the legislative process and the rich history that has shaped our country, led by knowledgeable guides who bring the story of America’s government to life. Afterwards, we visit Ford’s Theatre, the historic site where President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865. Walk through the theater where that fateful night changed American history forever. Dinner is included this evening. Overnight same hotel.
Day 5 – Home – After an included breakfast, we make our way home with deep understanding of what makes our country truly great. Meals: 4B, 1D
