Our cruises are a wonderful time to explore the ship and ports on your own. This is a vacation opportunity that allows you to enjoy your time at sea without a set schedule or guides. Your time is your own. Please also note that cruise booking will not include your onboard tips and shore excursions.

Visit charming ports like Newport, Rhode Island; bustling Boston; and picturesque Portland, Maine, along with Canada’s maritime gems –  Halifax and Saint John. With the ease of unpacking only once, you’ll discover a region rich in colonial charm, maritime heritage and stunning coastal views.

Day 1 – Hagerstown, MD –  Feel the anticipation build as we board our motorcoach and travel to Hagerstown for our first overnight.

Day 2 – New York City, NY – Board Cruise Ship – After an included breakfast, we continue to New York City where we transfer to our Princess Cruise ship, the Nieuw Amsterdam. Spend the evening getting settled and exploring the amenities of this elegant vessel.

Day 3 – Newport, RI – Step ashore at Newport, our first port of call. During the Gilded Age, America’s wealthiest families built elaborate mansions here in the yachting capital of the world. At the height of its splendor, Newport was a giddy whirlwind of grand fêtes, yacht races, and elaborate beach picnics for the Vanderbilts, Astors, and Morgans. Today, you can marvel at the splendor of great mansions like The Breakers, The Elms, or Rosecliff, take in the charming coastal town or stroll along the scenic Cliff Walk .

Day 4 – Boston, MA – Hailed as the “Cradle of American Independence,” Boston brims with heritage landmarks and cultural attractions that tell the story of our country’s fascinating history. World-class art museums, blooming public parks, ivy-adorned universities, and historic neighborhoods fill the eminently walkable, dynamic city that sparked the American Revolutionary War.

Day 5 – Portland, ME Our last US stop is the vibrant fishing port of Portland, Maine’s largest city, and its cultural, social and economic capital. From Old Port with its brick sidewalks and cobblestone streets to the quaint seaside village of Kennebunkport, the summer home of President George H. Bush, Portland and the surrounding area have something for everyone. Shoppers will enjoy the Old Port and downtown area that feature many unique boutiques, shops, galleries and restaurants.

Day 6 – Saint John, CanadaBoasting unspoiled natural beauty and a spectacular coastline, New Brunswick’s pristine shores await you as we sail into Canada through the stunning Bay of Fundy – home to the highest tides on Earth. Canada’s oldest settlement, Saint John’s Old City Market and Heritage Area show the town’s charm and sense of history. Stroll the streets, take in the sites and witness the Bay of Fundy’s astonishing natural phenomenon known as the Reversing Rapids, caused when the tides change and the river is forced to reverse direction and flow upstream.

Day 7 – Halifax, CanadaThe capital of Nova Scotia and the largest city in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces, Halifax was once Great Britain’s major military bastion in North America. The beautifully restored waterfront buildings of Halifax’s Historic Properties recall the city’s centuries-old maritime heritage. Stroll the waterfront, and you may find Nova Scotia’s floating ambassador, the schooner Bluenose II, tied up to Privateer’s Wharf, just as old sailing ships have done for over 200 years. Halifax is also the gateway to Nova Scotia’s stunning scenery, including famous Peggy’s Cove, where surf-pounded granite cliffs and a solitary lighthouse create an unsurpassed scene of rugged natural beauty.

Day 8 – Leisure Day at Sea – Today we enjoy a full day at sea enjoying the ship. Take time to enjoy the serenity, as our cruise winds down.

Day 9 –  Disembark Cruise –  Times Square – NYC City Tour – Hagerstown, MD – Our maritime journey ends as we cruise into New York City and disembark. Our bus will take us to Times Square for lunch on our own and shopping. Later, we’ll see what the “Big Apple” is all about as we enjoy a City Tour with a local step on guide. Finally, we begin our journey home with an overnight in Hagerstown.

Day 10 –  Home – After an included breakfast, we travel back to Kentucky, reminiscing about the fantastic times we’ve enjoyed together on our marvelous cruise.

Meals: 2B, all on-ship meals
