Mackinac Island & Henry Ford Museum

Come to beautiful Mackinac Island, the “Bermuda of the North.” Take a step back “somewhere in time,” to an island where no motorized vehicles are allowed, only horse drawn carriages and bicycles. Savor the aroma of world famous Mackinac Island fudge, enjoy a carriage tour of the island, and view this intriguing place steeped in history and memories.

Day 1 – Dearborn, Michigan – Our coach heads north into the “Great Lakes State” of Michigan for our first overnight in Dearborn.

Day 2 – Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village – Frankenmuth, Michigan – After an included breakfast, we visit the Henry Ford Museum and discover the history of America through its appliances, furniture, transportation, agriculture, and just about anything else you can imagine. In Greenfield Village, we will see a collection of buildings spanning more than 300 years of American history. From Thomas Edison’s laboratory to the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law, you will find it here in this unbelievable history museum. We overnight in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Dinner is included this evening.

Day 3 – Mackinac Island – Lunch at Grand Hotel – After an included breakfast, we drive to St. Ignace, Michigan, where we board the ferry that takes us to Mackinac Island. This afternoon, we stop at the Grand Hotel, where the hotel’s 700-foot veranda leads us into an enormous lobby decorated with priceless works of art. We have included their delicious luncheon buffet spread over ten tables of mouthwatering delights. After lunch, we will transfer to our hotel accommodations for the next two nights on Mackinac Island. The remainder of the day is at leisure. The clip-clop of the horses’ hooves is a pleasant sound in this quiet relaxing place that has no motorized vehicles.

Day 4 – Carriage Ride – We begin our day with a horse-drawn carriage tour of Mackinac Island. The rest of the day will be free to roam through the downtown shops, or maybe rent a bicycle for a ride around the island. Overnight same hotel.

Day 5 – Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland – This morning, we have some leisure time to browse for that last souvenir before boarding the ferry that takes us back to the mainland. Our ferry takes us to St. Ignace in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where we will have the pleasure of driving back across the famous Mighty Mac Bridge that connects Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsula. In Frankenmuth, Michigan, we’ll visit Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland before checking into our hotel. Dinner is included this evening.

Day 6 – Home – After an included breakfast, we begin our journey home with many memories of the natural beauty of Mackinac Island.
