Day 1 – Casey Jones Village – Little Rock, Arkansas – We travel through Kentucky and Tennessee with a stop at the Casey Jones Village in Jackson, Tennessee for an included lunch. We overnight in Little Rock.
Day 2 – Dallas Farmers Market – Sixth Floor Museum – Waco, Texas – After an included breakfast, we drive to “Big D,” Dallas, Texas. We will stop at the Dallas Farmers Market for lunch on our own and shopping. Enjoy the diverse flavors of Texas as you explore variety of places to eat and shop. Next, we will visit the Sixth Floor Museum, located in the Book Depository, from which Oswald shot Kennedy. This permanent historical exhibit gives a compelling and dramatic look into the events of the JFK assassination and its aftermath. We overnight in Waco.
Day 3 – Texas Ranger Hall of Fame – LBJ Ranch – San Antonio – After an included breakfast, we will visit the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. This museum displays the history and heritage of the Texas Rangers law enforcement agency and contains collections of weapons, artifacts, and art from the Old West. This afternoon, we take a driving tour of LBJ Ranch, making photo stops along the way. Next, we continue to San Antonio, where we will spend the next three nights. Here, time-worn adobe and stone buildings stand in the shadows of towering modern structures, while a feeling of intimacy prevails along the Paseo del Rio that leisurely meanders through the heart of San Antonio. Everywhere you look, there are signs of the “old” and the “new” – all of which mold, shape, and create this exciting city. We have included a leisurely boat ride on the San Antonio River as a special end to your day.
Day 4 – City Tour – El Mercado – IMAX – The Alamo – After an included breakfast, we meet our step on guide for an informative city tour of San Antonio. We will stop for lunch on our own and shopping at El Mercado, the nation’s largest Mexican market with over 100 shops and eateries. Next, we see “Alamo: The Price of Freedom,” at the IMAX Theater at San Antonio Rivercenter. Afterwards, we visit The Alamo, the “Cradle of Texas Liberty.” This evening is free to visit the Paseo Del Rio where you may choose to have dinner on your own in one of the quaint little restaurants along the Riverwalk area. Overnight same hotel.
Day 5 – Leisure Day in San Antonio – After an included breakfast, today will be free to explore San Antonio and do whatever most appeals to you. Overnight same hotel.
Day 6 – Magnolia Market at the Silos – Dallas, Texas – After an included breakfast, we drive to Waco for a visit to the famous Magnolia Market at the Silos. This shopping center, owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines of the “Fixer Upper” tv show, spans two city blocks and has a little something for everyone. Shop at stores including the Magnolia Market Shop, Silos Bakery, Seed and Supply, and the Garden, then grab a bite to eat at one of the numerous food trucks. We overnight in Dallas.
Day 7 – Beale Street – Memphis, Tennessee – After an included breakfast, we depart for the Memphis, Tennessee area where we overnight. Tonight, we visit Beale Street, where we will have time for shopping and enjoying some blues music.
Day 8 – Home – Today we make our way homeward, warmed by the many wonderful memories of San Antonio. Meals: 6B, 1L
