Enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas in Frankenmuth, Michigan, known as “Michigan’s Little Bavaria.” With its festive streetscapes, Alpine architecture, gingerbread houses, giant Glockenspiel, and many twinkling lights, a visit to Frankenmuth is like spending Christmas in Germany.
Day 1 – Frankenmuth, Michigan – Our coach heads north into the “Great Lakes State” of Michigan to the quaint community of Frankenmuth, where we spend the next three nights. The evening is at leisure for dinner on own and exploring.
Day 2 – City Tour – Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland – St. Lorenz Church – Bavarian Inn Dinner – After an included breakfast, we depart for a City Tour of Frankenmuth. It is famous for its Bavarian architecture and the world’s largest Christmas store. After our tour, we stop for shopping at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. Occupying the size of 5 ½ football fields, this fabulous Christmas store shimmers with thousands of lights and sparkling ornaments, hundreds of whimsical animated figures, and a worldwide selection of trims and gifts. After an included lunch, we stop for a tour at historic St. Lorenz Church. Built in 1880, the church is known for offering worship services almost entirely in German. Next, we will visit St. Julian Winery, Michigan’s oldest and largest wine company for a tasting. We will have time for shopping and exploring in the many interesting specialty shops downtown. This evening, we have included a family style chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn, a Frankenmuth tradition. After dinner, we will view the Christmas Tree music and lights at Zehnder Park. Overnight same hotel.
Day 3 – Pretzel Rolling – Frankenmuth Historical Museum – River Place Shops – Frankenmuth Clock Company – Christmas Lights Driving Tour – After an included breakfast, try your hand at becoming a German baker as we learn to roll and build our own pretzel. Next, we visit the Frankenmuth Historical Museum, where we will learn the history of this area from the first settlers through modern days. This afternoon, we will visit River Place Shops for lunch on our own and shopping at the boutiques and specialty stores. Afterwards, we will visit the Frankenmuth Clock Company, specializing in authentic imported German items including Black Forest cuckoo clocks, ornaments, nutcrackers, and souvenirs. We return to our hotel to rest and relax before our evening activities. Tonight, we will drive Christmas Lane with over 100,000 sparkling lights and see the Silent Night Chapel. Our driving tour continues through Frankenmuth to see the many Christmas lights in town. Overnight same hotel.
Day 4 – Home – After an included breakfast, we make our way home, taking with us the memories of a heartwarming Bavarian Christmas. Meals: 3B, 1L, 1D
